The Fairy Society Magazine Submissions Guideline
The Fairy Society Magazine accepts articles, essays, photos, artwork and crafts related to the amorous approach to fairies, fantasy and, including but not limited to: historical articles, travel, events, interviews with artisans, articles on Fuzzb.com and reviews of books and CDs. Authors are strongly advised to query the editor to ensure that your proposed topic is appropriate and has not been reserved for another writer.
Average feature article is approx. 2,000 words in length although longer stories may be considered. Sidebar information is also encouraged, as well as high-resolution graphics, and photographs. Those interested in writing for The Fairy Society Magazine on a regular basis as a staff columnist must query first, and include a brief bio/resume and sample article. If accepted, a writing contract will be required and the writer will be expected to contribute articles/columns on a regular basis.
Writers: All submissions should be set up in the standard manuscript format (title, name, address, phone number, email, with approx word count on title page, and every subsequent page fully numbered). Cover letter should include a brief bio and credits, where you heard of The Fairy Society Magazine, and any other pertinent personal information.
Artists & Photographers: Please send your artwork in a jpg format 800 pixels along largest edge * 72 dpi for review. You will be sent a link to an FTP site to upload the original full size picture if your artwork is accepted.
All submissions must be emailed to save on mailing and paper costs. Emailed articles should be mailed as an attached word doc or a text file or copied and then pasted into the actual email message to us. PLEASE DO NOT FORMAT YOUR ARTICLE. Documents must be single-spaced, with no hard returns unless a new paragraph, and left-justified.
All work (except poetry) is subject to editing for space, grammar, and format considerations. If edits do not affect content, we will not notify the author in advance. Due to normal production factors, The Fairy Society Magazine cannot guarantee publication of any article, even if scheduled for inclusion. We make every effort to notify writers and artists of the status of article(s) and artwork in our inventory. We reserve the right to reject previously accepted work at any time and for any reason.
We do not accept previously published work. We consider work that has appeared in print journals or on blogs or other websites to be “previously published.”
Submission Deadlines/Reading Periods:
We accept submissions on a rolling basis. The next three issues will be published September1, 2009 (Sept./Oct), November 1, 2009(Nov./Dec.), and January 1, 2010 (Jan./Feb.) Deadlines are August 15th, October 15th, and December 15th.
